Black Bile's new EP Ascent Vol. 1 out today
Like its name suggests, Ascent Vol. 1 is the first installment in a series of multiple releases.
"I don't know why a single album is not enough," ponders Black Bile's frontman Henri Kuittinen. "I chose forty songs to be developed. However, doing a double, triple or quadruple album felt like a project that would crumble under the weight of its own impossibility. In the end I decided to challenge the whole album concept by releasing songs in tiny batches at the rate at which they are completed. From the point of view of the author the process is more pleasant as the studio sessions will be shorter, the material is out there more quickly, and all the songs will get the attention they deserve."
Just like Black Bile's previous album Great Ape Language, Ascent Vol. 1 was recorded at Sound Supreme recording studio with Janne Saksa. "I did not want to compromise with quality even though we are operating without a record label. Instead of doing a home recording or utilizing other such tomfoolery we headed to Sound Supreme," Kuittinen continues.
"Gradually the songs will make up a greater whole, the form of which is not known by anyone. We are on a sort of a musical journey, the stories of which are told in real time. We are recording more songs as we have paid off the previous studio bills," laughs Kuittinen.
